Italy, Texas Soil Amendment - December 2008
Ervin “Doc” Byers, of Italy, Texas, conducted his own experiment using soil from under a MOR Compost Cover in the planter on your left. Dr. Byers then used a competitor’s soil in the planter on your right. Even after the competitor’s seed had a decisive 3 or 4 inch growing start when planted, the flower growing in the MOR soil now towers over the competition’s plant and has recently bloomed. Martin Matarrese, Oakland Parks and Recreation
Martin Matarrese of Oakland Parks and Recreation is about to apply a test plot of Class A Exceptional Quality Biosolids (BASP John’s Best) at the Joaquin Miller Community Center. Ten 1.7 cubic foot buckets of CALSOILTM were broadcast over about 200 square feet and planted with wildflower mix. Martin was familiar with CALSOILTM having conducted successful testing with a competitor’s soil mix in December 2005. (Continued…)
Tom Powers, Alhambra Valley Vineyards
Tom Powers, owner of Alhambra Valley Vineyards, is using CALBIOMIX™ to amend the clay soils at his vineyard in Martinez, California. Tom tried the mix and commented that it “greatly improved the soils texture and water retention capabilities.” He is now comparing the fertilizer value of CALBIOMIX™ with manure; his current soil amendment material. Gordon Piper, Oakland Firestorm Memorial Gardens
Gordon Piper, one of the founding members of the Oakland Firestorm Memorial Gardens, incorporated 15 cubic yard of CALSOIL™ into to rose gardens at the Memorial site. Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility Staff
The crew of the successful In-vessel Aerated Static Pile (IASP) biosolids composting pilot study at Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah after screening the Class A biosolids compost. The owner of the small rental trammel screen, Cory Sculze, said, “it is the best organic soil amendment product he has seen in Utah.” (Continued…)
East Bay Regional Park District Staff
Staff at the East Bay Regional Park District used CALTREE™ to plant 275 redwood seedlings in Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, California. D. Rosario hand seen the results of growth testing using the redwood seedlings where the control seedlings were only 50 percent of the height of those planted in CALTREE™ When “D” saw the performance he said, “look at the difference and no yellowing on the tips, I need to have this stuff for my trees.” (Continued…)
Dan Finklea, Greenhouse Construction and Landscapes
A new landscape was planted at 8 Waldec Court in Oakland, CA using 60 cubic yards of CALSOIL™ in June 2006. The landscape contractor, Dan Finklea, completed the $200,000 project by tilling the CALSOIL™ product into the native clay soil to produce a nutrient rich subsoil for the new lawn, planting beds and tree holes. Dr. Bob Peri, Oakland California
Dr. Bob Peri of Oakland California recently used JOHN’S BEST (CALSOIL™) to top-dress his ornamentals this past summer.
